With his comments on the need for education the Great Leader created the first sparks of the fire which has not died down for 80 years. Inspired by the speech of the Great Leader at Turkish Grand National Assembly on November 1, 1925 the Turkish Education Association of which foundation was laid by 2002 pioneers of the Republic, including Atatürk himself and other founders of the Turkish republic, was established on January 31, 1928 with objective to satisfy this vital necessity of the country. The Association (formerly “Turkish Education Society”) acquired the status of an 'association for public benefit' in the resolution of the Council of Ministers, dated December 12th, 1939 and became known as “Turkish Education Association” since 1946.
During its 80-year background in education the Association, which is a civil society initiative, has organised on basis of science and has opened 9 representations, one dormitory, and 21 schools throughout the country to promote and maintain quality education in the country. In addition to the foreign, the Association considers providing scholarships to decent and hard working Turkish students, who are unable to access to education due to insufficient economic means, to be a sacred duty for the last 80 years.
